Figured this out by accident, but these little S hooks you see everywhere are perfect for this. Just enough tension to seal all around the dome, press lightly down on the handle and it falls away, and you don’t need to take it off for normal operation.

(Yes that’s a daisy wheel on a BJ3, I just like it better)

I just used mine for the first time the other night. I accidentally let my grill get WAY too hot. But is there any reason why you can grill over an open flame and just keep the lid open?

It’s flawed on a tight seal when using the Joetisserie and KJ knows it. I think it’s the hinge assist. I’ve exhausted hinge replacements, twisting nuts, you name it.
My classic 1 seals tightly with the lid weight.
I dangle a patio paver off the handle on my Classic 2. First world problems.

That’s a brilliant idea. I’ve been using a 5kg dumbell with a self-fashioned hanger using some plastic coated garden wire, and suspending it from the handle. But now I’m gonna see if I have any of those clips kicking around.

I use a gallon water bottle filled about halfway. Paracord loop around dome handle.

I like the new BGE rotisserie. No wedge. Don’t know if it would work on a Kamado Joe. If it does, KJ may be losing business.

I’ve found that i don’t need to do this. You just have to close off the vents almost entirely and give it time to settle in.

Event if I were to weight it down there are gaps all around so it’s not like there’s much control.

I found to crack the bottom vent slightly and top vent completely closed is my secret. The air leak around the joetisserie ring is just about right to keep the temps down
