Is this a buy? Haha insane price seeing as everywhere else I find this it’s near $60! Going to pick up a couple bottles for the heck of it.

This is the kind of wine that tends to get shat on around here, but for $21, it’s a good buy if you’re into big cabs.

  2. That’s a great price, I would load up.

Now, I don’t like Austin Hope. It’s a wine for people who use the word smooth to describe wine they like and enjoy fruit and fruit, without complexity and tannins and wine that evolves.

Having said that, if you ever host, this is a crowd pleaser and I would serve this as a party. Many people would enjoy this versus a more complex Napa Cab or Bordeaux.

They almost certainly mixed that up with the “Austin” by Austin Hope. Their NV cab is that price point. The vintage is usually around $60. Hope they notice the mistake before someone gets in trouble

That’s a good wine if you’re into big juicy California cabs. I’m glad I tried it once but it wasn’t my favorite. Not a huge fan of the style.

Grab it before they realize their mistake. The Austin NV is that price not the regular Austin Hope.

If you like big jammy Cabernet then it’s for you. That’s the signature palate for Daou and Austin Hope

Solid price for a decent cab. Good for you.

It’s a bit too much for me.. I am a big fan of the “less is more “ approach… I can appreciate that everyone’s palates are different & there isn’t necessarily a good or bad because of it, but those types of wines tend to be out of balance for me. Just my 2¢

Do this – buy one bottle, take it out to the parking lot and try it in a decent glass. If you like it at $22 buy more.

Austin Hope is a great buy for the price mentioned here.

probably a mistake, i’d expect 51 dollars more or less. And it’s fine. Cherry & berry flavors, if you are good with that.

Yes. Austin Hope cheaper than Daou is great, I’d buy a few. A perfectly drinkable cab.

These comments are so pretentious. OP, I would buy all of them at that price point.

Over a $100 a bottle here in Canada haha. I enjoy it, would definitely scoop a few up

  14. DisciplineLanky2525

100% the wrong price tag. That has to be the spotfor the NV Austin Cab

  15. Icy-Selection58

They miss tagged it for the Austin Paso wine that is that price. Good luck.

Yea that’s a great price. It’s $55-ish everywhere in CT typically. I would buy a case and let it age for 4 more years and it will probably be pretty good. Had a 2018 vs a 2022 recently and omg there was a huge difference. In general I think it was better back then though anyway.

I’m not a huge fan of AH, too bold and “juicy” for my tastes and almost feels manipulated. I have been to the winery, fun tasting, just not a fan. That being said I would purchase three of these at this price

Great at the PP, and if you’re into that type of wine, that’s a pretty cheap Daou as well.

Considering it’s almost always sitting around $50 (I know in certain markets they don’t allow it to be marked down) then I would say grab as much as you want bc that’s technically a steal and it’s a solid $50~ wine.

  20. There are two different but extremely similar looking Austin Hope cabs- one usually retails for around 60 like you mentioned, the other is typically around 20.

I’m willing to bet this wine was simply stocked in front of the wrong price tag- the label itself will still scan ~$60 at the register. In order to get it for the $21 price point you’ll probably have to talk to a manager for an override (which they should honor because it’s either their mistake or their vendor’s mistake and the wine is mispriced as far as the consumer is concerned)

  21. plsobeytrafficlights

i like austin hope, but i have never seen it for less than $50, even on sale.

It is a great wine for people that like wine but are not so into wine. A perfect crowd pleaser.

It’s the perfect wine when you host a party and also a great last bottle after you have enjoyed several others and just want to drink some more while you chat with friends but your taste buds are not at their best anymore.

People here like to shit on it but I would bet money if you served it blind and told people it was a different wine a lot of people here would get it wrong.

Solid price, decent to good wine if you like the big Paso profiles. I’d buy at that price to have with a hearty meal or for company who like big cabs from Cali
