Wetherspoons recently announced their Christmas menu which brought back all the favourites of the past.

New additions this year include an emmental & cheddar cheese sauce and a brie & garlic mushroom pizza.

But for non-meat eaters looking for a traditional taste of the holidays, the menu highlights one major issue.

Last year, BirminghamLive tried the Wetherspoons Christmas menu and ended up sharing the meal with a stranger.

If you haven’t tried it before, the Wetherspoons Christmas dinner consists of turkey breast slices, pork, sage & onion stuffing, roasted Chantenay carrots and parsnips, Maris Piper mash, pigs-in-blankets, peas, cranberry sauce and gravy.

The meal provides patrons with an early taste of Christmas without any of the cooking and hassle.

The price of the traditional dinner will vary on location – but there is a slight increase from last year.

Last year, the average price was £13.52 with an alcoholic drink, but this year the average price with a pint will increase to £15.52.

The traditional Christmas dinner might return but there is one thing missing in the annual festive menu – a lack of alternatives for vegan and vegetarian customers.

BirminghamLive contacted Wetherspoons over plans to provide an alternative traditional dinner for non-meat eaters and was told the mushroom & garlic burger was a new suitable alternative.

The addition makes a minor change from the normal vegan burger on the menu, a plant-based patty with garlic and herbs.

If you don’t fancy a burger, alternative festive options for include a vegan carvery from Toby Carvery and a caramelised carrot wellington from Beefeater.

The Wetherspoons festive menu will launch on November 12 and last until December 31 (excluding Christmas Day).
