Come on in. Come on in, y’all. Today, we’re making some good oldfashioned homemade chicken gravy. The kind that makes everything taste better, but with a little twist to keep everything lighter. And you know, I’ll show you how to put it all together. Be sure to thumbs up the video, leave your girl a comment, and subscribe for the deliciousness. Y’all know what this is. Take off. Here we go, y’all. Let’s go ahead and get started and go over the ingredients. Not much to it. We have some flour and I have some chicken broth, but you can use beef broth. We’ll be using a few spices and a full list of other ingredients will be down below in the description box. Let’s make it. Okay, y’all. So, to our skillet, you want to go ahead and add in your flour. You want to come in and smooth everything out. You want all that flour to touch the surface. Also, before we go any further, you want to make sure you have everything you need right beside you. Whatever broth you’re using, you want to have that ready to go. Make sure you have your whisk right beside you because when this flour starts to brown, it goes fast. You don’t want to burn it and you’ll have to start all over. You want to keep this stirred and you want to scrape. You don’t want to burn this. So, you want to stay right here with it and keep it moving and just trust the process. And this is after 3 minutes of cooking. You see how it’s changing colors? You just want to keep stirring and scraping. And notice how I’m rotating my skillet. You’ll start to smell it as the flour cooks and that’s how you know that it’s doing what it’s supposed to do. Spreading the flour back out over the surface of the skillet and mixing and scraping. Just trust the process. And if you need to pull it from the heat to slow down the cooking process to give everything a good mix, go ahead and do so. You want to just keep scraping and stirring until you get it to the color that you like your gravy to be. Push it back on the heat. Just keep mixing in the flour and scraping. My mom showed me how to make this gravy probably about 20 years ago. And this is how we’ve always made our gravy. So, don’t think that it’s lacking any kind of flavor just because we’re not using any butter or pan drippings. It’s still nice and flavorful. If you’re frying a turkey this year for Thanksgiving, no pan dripping, this would be great. Or if you just need a good homemade gravy recipe, this is it. As you can see, our color is changing on this flour. This is about the color that I like. Our chicken broth ready to go. Add a little bit in. A little bit at a time. Whisk it in. You just want to whisk out any lumps. Now, if you want to add onions to this, now would be a good time to go ahead and add in your onions. We’re going to go ahead and start seasoning this up. I’m using some no salt, garlic and herb seasoning, some onion powder, garlic powder, and some black pepper. And now, I use the Better Than Bully roasted chicken base seasoning. And that has plenty of salt. That’s why you don’t see me add any salt here, but I do add in a pinch, just a pinch of celery salt. Then you just want to come in and give everything a good mix. Turn your heat up, let it come up to a boil, and then reduce down to a simmer. I smothered some pork chops a while back using this method on my gravy, and I’ll link that video down below in the description box. This will take just a moment or so to get thick. And just get it thick to your liking. If it gets too thick, you can always thin it out with some more broth, whatever broth that you’re using. And our gravy is ready, y’all. And remember, this is still very hot. As it cools, it’ll thicken also. And that’s it. And that’s all it is to it, y’all. Creamy and full of flavor. You would never know this wasn’t made with any pan dripping, no oil, no butter. We cut the calories, but not the comfort. As always, thank y’all for watching. Be sure to thumbs up the video, share it out, subscribe for the deliciousness, leave your girl a comment. Happy Sunday, and y’all know the vibes. Be blessed.
