Detroit’s 2025 Best New Restaurants & Dining Experiences

We count down the Detroit Free Press/Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers Top 10 New Restaurants and Dining Experiences for 2025.

A highly anticipated Italian restaurant with a familiar name downriver that’s been more than a year in the making is set to open this week.

Dolce V Cucina Italiana is set to open on Oct. 16 under Vince Cangialosi, brother of Tony Cangialosi, who recently reopened his Tony Cannoli Sweets & Eats in the space next door to the restaurant. Cangialosi and his family once operated the former Dolce Vita Ristorante on Fort Street in Riverview and the Dolce Vita Grill in Monroe. The family also operated Dolce Vita restaurants in Florida before returning to Michigan.

Cangialosi is operating Dolce V with sons Luca and Noah in the kitchen.

“Everything will be made fresh, in-house,” Cangialosi said. “My espresso comes from Italy, and my extra-virgin olive oil comes from a town I grew up in Sicily.”

On the menu, Cangialosi said, diners can expect some of the traditional dishes once served at La Dolce Vita Ristorante in Riverview. Guests can expect chicken, pasta and seafood dishes, plus some new dishes including rice balls (arancini).

The space, which was once a Blockbuster video store, was completely remodeled. Its decor has warm tones and soft lighting. The bar with full offerings has a backlit granite countertop, and there’s seating for about a dozen. Its dining area with high ceilings and exposed ventilation has table and booth seating. There’s a wine room to accommodate private dining and an open kitchen.

With seating for about 75 total, the restaurant will be open for dinner Tuesday-Saturday. Doors open at 5 p.m. Oct. 16 at 16075 West Road in Woodhaven.
