Started winterizing my home today…in a month, the trees will be bare, in two months, there will be snowbanks. I don't like winter much. So I felt sad. So I opened this bottle.

An arm's length away, opening, it was earth I smelled. Didn't expect that. Had to stick my nose in for some dark cherry/plum, pomegranate/orange, grass, cinnamon, butter, vanilla–all overwhelmed, at first, by earth. Looked real pretty though: clear ruby, pale+.

Taste was good, and this second glass is really good! The fruit is moving forward, the high acidity/low+ tannins are well balanced, the flavour complexity is well balanced with a long finish.

Sadly, I just went to the website of the store I bought it at in May, and they are out of stock.

Maybe a silly question – but do you happen to know where you got your wine glass? Like the brand/store? I’m looking for new red wine glasses and I like the look of this one!

  2. Glad someone else is looking for the glass haha

That was a tough vintage with an early spring and then a mid/late April cold/frost that lasted for a few days.

omg the way you described that wine actually makes me feel like i can taste it too! sounds like the perfect comfort drink when the weather starts getting sad. (lg: biancamyxo)

Lovely description. I’m standoffish on wines with earthiness but the other qualities you described are divine. 9 yrs of bottle age, I bet that wine went down well.

The fall is a beautiful reprieve from the blistering Summers here, I’m with you on Winter, I crave Spring and Fall.

    Hope all is well 🙂
