


So I was smoking two pork butts had been on for a couple hours stepped away and came back and it was on fire, I used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire. To me it doesn’t look like any of the major components were damaged. Is it still useable?

It’s still useable. Clean the grease and ash out a little more frequently.
Of course There is a paint made for grills you can go over it after you clean up the damage.
Likely because of a grease fire due to meat overhang. Your meat has to be OVER the drip tray, if it’s not…. Grease fire.
What a coincidence I just had this happen yesterday. 4 pork shoulders led to overhang, led to grease build up, led to fire bad enough I had to get the extinguisher out. I flew too close to the sun.
Clean it out, make sure you’re thorough don’t want to get any fire extinguisher compounds in your food. After that you’re good to go.
Will likely need some touch-up grill paint. I will. Spent 1.5 hours deep cleaning mine all this morning.
I lit mine on fire once smoking bacon. Something about grease and heat just doesn’t mix well.
Yes it is. I had happen twice in 9 years. Just clean well and burn it off. I would suggest baking soda to put out the fire instead though atleast for the grill.
