Greece is stepping onto the big stage of world gastronomy with the GastrosoΦy Fest, which brings the famous Italian chef to a meeting of high gastronomy together with international award-winning chefs, and our own protagonists of the new Greek cuisine
With a focus on extroversion and quality, the GastrosoΦy Fest powered by Protergia, which will be hosted on Sunday, October 19 at the Petrini Apothiki PPA, aspires to develop into an institution that will introduce Greek gastronomy to the international stage. In an era where Greek cuisine claims a place on the global stage as a source of inspiration, and not just as a tourist “highlight”, this festival comes to unite international personalities and domestic chefs around the vision of creativity, tradition and innovation.
Massimo Bottura, internationally recognized Italian chef, and one of the most influential figures in modern gastronomy, (Osteria Francescana, 3* Michelin), but also a chef-example of creativity and social sensitivity, comes to Athens to talk – and cook – about nutrition as a central concept of gastronomy, about sustainability and the fight against food waste, but also about how authentic Greek flavors can be integrated into a global narrative.
The festival line-up is enriched with important international presences, who bring with their experience and know-how will strengthen with their creative proposals the view on modern trends in cuisine. The two-star Michelin award-winning Isabella Potì who is considered one of the most promising female chefs in Italy. Jeremy Chan, known from the Ikoyi restaurant in London. Kristian Baumann (Koan, Copenhagen, 2* Michelin) who combines Korean heritage with Scandinavian precision, Mark Doland (The Glenturret Lalique, Scotland, 2* Michelin), who stands out for his creative approach to modern Scottish cuisine, Rene Frank (CODA, Berlin, * Michelin) twice “Best Pastry Chef” at an international level.
The festival stars prominent Greek chefs, who connect the gastronomic tradition of Greece with modern trends, such as: Spyros and Vangelis Liakos, Alexandros Tsiotinis, Nikos Karathanos, Gikas Xenakis, Panagiotis Giakalis, Andreas Karapanos.
The festival program includes: 14:00–19:00: International Gastronomy Forum, speeches, tastings, 19:00–23:00: Food & Wine Party with unlimited tastings, wine tasting and Live Concert with Onirama. In total, 15 live cooking stations are expected, with over 20 unique recipes, speeches and presentations on global cuisine trends, 50+ Greek wine labels, with the participation of Masters of Wine Yannis Karakasis and Mark Andrew, who will comment on the position and development of Greek wine.
