What?!?! NOOOOOOO! Was just there last night hanging out at the rooftop lounge (a totally hidden Culver City gem). Only found out about it last month though. It’s an AWESOME place but perhaps very poorly marketed?
Do check out the rooftop lounge above Bar Bohemien though!
Many “Public Halls /Markets” popped up a few years back, and I don’t think the vendors in them do great business. Lots of turnover and vacancies. I gotta say, even GCM lately is not too crowded, especially during the week.

This part of Culver City is cursed. Businesses especially restaurants come and go.

Bummer, it’s such a great spot, but I’m not surprised, it’s almost empty every time I go. Not sure what the problem is, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen any marketing for it. LA is too big, with too many options to not get the word out.
capitulate_dez_balls
It was the prices. Everything in this dining hall was about 20-30% more expensive than what you could find if you walked a few blocks in any direction from it

That’s really unfortunate, but with the high turnover of restaurants in there, I’m not terribly surprised. I’ll definitely be making several more trips before it’s gone. Good to hear Bar Bohemian will still be there though!

Wait really?? That’s so sucky, it was such a cool spot. I moved out of Culver a few months ago but I always took visiting friends there. Bar Boho is really great too.

Speaking of public markets/food halls in Culver City, whatever happened to [Culver Public Market](https://culverpublicmarket.com/) on Washington and Centinela?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a new restaurant in Downtown Culver City last more than a couple years. Great space where I’ve had lots of good memories over the years. The standup in the back was really good. The views and the space are awesome. I hope everyone involved lands on their feet, it was really awesome.

They lost over half their seating capacity when the city reclaimed the parklets. I kind of thought it was just a mater of time.

WTF! Pissed!!!

Sustainabowl is my go to there. Everything else has felt 15-25% more expensive than it should be

Noooo! Benevento! Why?! Why must everything Culver City close?!!

This place was also kinda weird to me… it was a great *idea* but the execution felt weird… it wasn’t the most inviting, had a random layout and everything was overpriced. On top of all that I feel it was just never marketed all that well.
At the end of the day, food halls work in areas like New York where there’s huge pedestrian traffic looking for something to eat. As much as I love the concept of a food hall, in such a car-centric place like LA, it feels somewhat mismatched. You’re not going to drive to go to a food hall… unless maybe there’s other things to do there (I stopped by one in Milwaukee that was huge and had games like cornhole and giant jenga and a proper bar and spots to watch sport…).
It just always felt misaligned to me. It wasn’t really a place to hang out, and I just am not sure who would drive to a food hall that isn’t really designed to hang out in. Especially when parking around that area is hard to come by and expensive.
