A London-based masterclass on Tuesday next week will uncover how agro-ecology is being employed to create outstanding wines from Argentina under the guidance of one of the world’s top wine consultants – Alberto Antonini.
The respected winemaker is coming to London to reveal the results of a five-year research project into the soil and vineyard ecology at Mendoza’s Viña Artesano – a pioneering high-end producer owned by Argentina’s Alejandro Bulgheroni, who is a billionaire businessman with a number of high-end wine estates, including Bodega Garzon in Uruguay.
During a masterclass on Tuesday 14 October from 11-12.30am at London’s 67 Pall Mall wine club, Antonini will reveal how plants are being used to achieve a natural balance in the vineyard, and, in turn deliver better wines.
The event will not only consider the science behind the approach, but also the range of new wines being released following the project, which are named after the flower species used to regulate each unique ecosystem: Nassella in Gualtallary, Achillea in Paraje Altamira, and Gazania in Alto Agrelo.
Antonini will lead a tutored tasting of five wines from these distinctive terroirs and discuss the power of agro-ecology, micro-plotting, science and innovation in fine and sustainable winemaking.
