Compare them to an American hospital. Damn, no wonder we keeping the American medical complex alive and well.

I’ve had to have two minor surgeries and two major here, always in the hospital for a week or so, and the food always rocks. If they ask you if you want bread or rice with your meals, tell them rice though, the bread was mostly a thin slice of white that didn’t go with the rest of the food so after two days of that I asked them to switch me to rice.

I spent a month in the hospital in Sanda, Hyogo, and the first 2 weeks were without any food or drink passing through my lips, just a drip in my arm giving me sustenance. So once they started me back on food, I was thrilled with everything they served me. Japanese patients in the ward would complain about how bland everything was, but I have always used less soy sauce and salt than the typical Japanese diet. I looked forward to each and every mealtime, starting with the watery okayu, to more solid foods.

NYC restaurants could charge $32 for this spread. The food standard in Japan might be the highest in the world
