Slug bait. And cover your cabbages well

SlugGetter dot com has traps that work great for both slugs and snails. Some are simple domes and others look like cute bunnies, turtles, or frogs. They sell them on Etsy and eBay.

Diatomaceous earth around the bases.

Can also try Diatomaceous Earth spread around each plant to discourage snails and slugs. For beer traps dig a hole with a garden trowel and insert a plastic cup with the top lip at ground level. Add inexpensive beer to level about 1.5 inches below the top lip. Slugs smell yeast, going into liquid, but can’t get back out and drown.
