It’s important to have a variety of dips and snacks when hosting friends and family for game night or attending a tailgating gathering, but time and convenience often leads to taking some shortcuts. For me, that may mean buying whatever dips are on sale at my local grocery store – and that is a recipe for unhealthy and likely less satisfying options.
But if I can make a dip using just two ingredients that I already have handy and it’s totally delicious? I’m ready to listen and get involved. I just found that in a recent TikTok video that shared an incredibly simple shortcut to making the always-popular French onion dip.
Believe it or not, to make this dip you just need to blend a packet of Lipton Recipe Secrets Onion Soup & Dip Mix with a container of Chobani Nonfat Plain Greek Yogurt. Chances are both are already in your kitchen and you won’t even need to go to the store, and the result is the exact creamy and tangy onion taste you are craving, without the extra processed taste you may find in a pre-made jar of shelf-stable dip from a grocery aisle.
If you think about it, these ingredients make a lot of sense. The spice blend has toasted onion and garlic blended with savory spices. Mix that in with tangy, creamy yogurt and it just all comes together exactly as we always wanted – with just about zero effort.
If you don’t have those items handy and want to make a version of this recipe, that’s easy enough. Sub out whatever Greek-style yogurt you do have handy (or use regular yogurt if that’s what you have, but it’ll result in a different texture for your dip) and create your own variation of the onion soup and dip mix with ingredients such as onion powder, garlic powder, beef bouillon, black pepper, and paprika.
Of course, you can also kick things up with extra ingredients, such as fresh herbs or a dash of hot sauce. But it’s totally acceptable to keep it as simple as it starts out, and it’s sure to be a crowd favorite.
