Why they look surprisingly similar to the pack I grabbed this afternoon? yeah the same store, only one pack left when I saw it. Thank you for not grabbing all of them. I probably would not be so nice had I seen them first

I’m not convinced that it is *all* steatosis but the top two pieces look sort of consistent with it.

These look great.
If the fat looks even, delicate, white and lace-like (as in your steak), that’s high-quality marbling — not steatosis. If it looks blotchy, uneven, clumpy, or yellowish that’s when you might suspect steatosis. If one side of the steak looks way more marbled than the rest, that’s likely steatosis. It’s actually super rare to find in retail beef.

got a couple New York strips (2.70 LB) that looked the same yesterday in San Diego. Ate one yesterday and the last one today and they were incredible. Price of beef seems to be going up… the Prime RibEyes were something like 26.99 and that was the first time buying them at 21.99 for strips

Can someone please pronounce “steatosis” for me? I don’t believe this is it based on what I’ve learned from this sub. But I would like to pronounce this word correctly when I pull it out in real life.

I was thinking wagyu on initial look but upon further inspection the marbling is not really consistent. Each steak has a little nub in the end and those are completely devoid of any marbling. In wagyu that doesn’t happen. In the bottom two steaks the marbling starts to thin out and fade towards the bottom right which is also not consistent. Just my $.02. Not an expert just a couch potato don’t at me
