This is one of the most rare bottles I've ever seen a guest bring in. Absolutely delicious wine.

This wine was full of complex structure, showed a bit more green notes than expected and still had lively black and red fruit. The cork was insanely dark and we poured it into decanters while attached to a decanting cradle.

BROOO. that is a serious wine!

maybe not the best vintage, but the larger format is favorable and consistent for aging high tannin wines like this, especially when well-stored. Even though this vintage isn’t super-highly regarded for Bordeauxs, I would be extremely optimistic with an Imperial. With a 750 or Mag, it’s still hit or miss with the best 40 year old wines. FWIW, I have opened an absurd amount of 1986 burgundy and bordeaux in hospitality and private settings — in large format it is less finnicky, and one of my fav QPR on the ultra-high end if i want to impress the snobbiest of wine snobs who have tried “everything but…”
