I was at my restaurant supplier looking for round so I could make a few pounds of jerky and it was almost $15.
Started making jerky because store bought was $8 for 6oz, $15 for what will turn into 8-10 oz isn’t there.
Got an offer to go in on a steer with a buddy which I think is my only chance at beef now. He can have the cuts, I just want the rounds and some ground. Maybe a ribeye or three. Then again we would process it so there is significant saving there.
About to start smoking my salmon into jerky and if it get worse I’ll even make some chicken jerky.
dudemanjack
Is that weis? That was probably their price last year before the huge beef price increase.

Dude I been on pork and chicken for a while now, ground beef costs the price of what chuck roast should be on sale for
That’s fucking insane. And honestly seeing this just pisses me off

I have a chuck roast in the freezer I’ve been hesitant on throwing it in the smoker. What do you guys think ? Some say it’s good some say the beefy flavor is over powering . I don’t want to disappoint myself or my guests with it lol .
dunnodudes
It already has in my house.

I was going to buy one to make birria, might use a brisket instead lol.

Gotta get that 1/4-1/2 cow if you can afford it and have the storage (I can’t and don’t) so much cheaper, tastes better.

The luxury meats are now lobster, shrimp, and beef.

Just paid $7.99lb at Costco. Screw the grocery stores.

Realistically all beef is special occasions only now. I have a lot more disposable income than most people and even I rarely get beef.

At these prices, you need to shop smarter. I saw the same at my local supermarket, $10/lb for chunk steak that were $2.99 in 2019. Maybe $5/lb 2 yrs ago.
Walked three feet further down the beef section and saw short ribs and hangar steak for $11/lb. Which I will say is the same price they were before the beef shortage and price hike. So what’s up with that? Why is chunk and sirloin steak 3x what it was but skirt, short ribs and hangar, are all the same price? Not sure but I had a great meal. Wife said I should make short ribs more often then I reminded her it takes hours.

I only go to Kroger for soda sales , after holiday ham sales, and my medication. That’s because they always have my ADHD meds in stock. But other than that NOPE

At least we’re great again. Am I right?

Jesus Christ. Salmon is cheaper than that where I’m at.

When you get it at Costco

We cook about one beef meal a week now.

OMG – that’s over 20$ per kg if to convert. I am paying £12.5 per kg for Aberdeen Angus briskets in the UK.
Temporary-You6249
Jesus. The local place here in central NC wanted $17.99/lb for top sirloin yesterday.
wtf is happening to beef prices right now?
Are there only 100 cows left on the planet?
Guess it’s time to pull out the pork, poultry, & fish recipes until this madness stops.

I downloaded all the local grocery store apps and check for sales every week, then buy as much as they’ll let me, vacuum seal it and freeze it. I bought a few for 3.99/lb at Albertsons last week.

Yeahhh I’m not paying $10.99 a pound for chuck. Even paying $7 a pound is a hard pull for me

Everyday low price😂😂😂
Chuck has always been twice the cost of brisket.
That’s the best part of this timeline!
It doesn’t
We’re all poor. Let’s just stop with the “poor man’s _______” entirely.
I grew up dirt poor and we ate chuck steak because that was all we could afford. The world is upside down!
We produce the most beef in the world and prices just keep going up. I’m tired of winning this much.
That’s a bit insane. Choice is $7.49 at my friendly Northern California Costco.
Yea never made sense. They’re just cheaper cause they’re smaller lol.
When it comes to beef there’s no “poor man’s” anything anymore.
It’s always been a stupid name as others have pointed out.
Gotta be honest, I like chuck roast better as barbacoa anyway. Never hits quite like brisket for me.
Kroger is the worst.
Brisket becomes the poor man’s chuck when you can find a 2lb packer.
I’ve never understood this moniker since chuck roast is more expensive than brisket.
Chuck actually dropped at my Costco recently. Was 9.99 and now back to 7.99.
I just got a couple t – bones at save s lot for $7.99 lb. Best steak I ever had? Not by a long shot but for the price it did just fine.

Man, I remember when Prime briskets from Costco was $2.99/lb.
This is the price in my town for a brisket.
