My buddy just got a pellet smoker! I’m new to grilling/smoking and this was my first time doing tri tips! Came out super tasty.

Not trying to be negative, but why? Brisket is about 2/3 the cost of tri-tip where I live.

Tbh, I think tri-tip is a cut that’s better off at medium rare
You can still smoke it, it’s absolutely delicious
But cooking it to 200 is kind of a shame imo

I’ve done the brisket method with tri tip but it’s so much better smoked to about 120 then seared to med rare imo

Meh, death of a tri tip.

Pour one out for that tri-tip, respect and prayers for the fallen.

Tri Tip is the quintessential California grill meat. It isn’t like a brisket. Treat it like a steak, which it is. Some nice oak on the fire and no more than medium. It’s one of my all time favourite cuts and is usually forgiving unless overcooked.
