This is my first time makeing steak, i bought rumpsteak at local butcher, i wanted to be medium rear, so i sear one side minute and a half, then other side minute and a half, then minute on first side. Then i use spoon for butter bath. After that i let it rest for about 6-7min.

I’ve seen far worse first attempts

The third photo made it look like it had jaundice but after seeing the fourth one I think it’s amazing. Welcome to the club mate, beginning of your journey

Do you want tips or validation? Honest question.

Honestly looks great- especially for the first time. Did you rest it? Resting it helps to keep the juices from spilling out.

Can’t really tell, but looks like the middle is cold? Was it frozen or cooked right from fridge?

  6. Looks awesome. Way better than my first. I think you have a solid steak down. From here you’ll probably just be making minor tweaks to your process until it’s exactly how you like it.

  7. Proof is in the taste. How was it? Would you have it again?

Looks pretty damn good to me!! The only thing is that I leave it to rest and when I’m ready to eat, I cut off the pieces individually. It retains its juices better that way, and honestly just makes the experience better for me personally.

buy a meat thermometer OP, It makes cooking steak so much easier, I’ve been cooking my steaks to perfect medium rare temp every time since getting my thermometer.

Nice cook, but it appears you put the cooked food back on the cutting board without cleaning it.

From a food safety perspective, not the best practice.

Did you wash that cutting board? There looks to be raw meat touching your slices of cooked meat🤦🏼‍♂️
