A Louisville nonprofit dedicated to ending period poverty is inviting the community to take a seat at the table for dignity and equity.For Lady’s Sake will host its second annual Dining for Dignity fundraiser from noon to 3:30 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 19 at UAW Local 862, 3000 Fern Valley Road. The event coincides with National Period Day and will feature food by Biscuit Belly, a mimosa bar speakers, and community celebration to support menstrual equity across Kentuckiana.Founded by Candice Crawford and led alongside Executive Director Reina Kempt, For Lady’s Sake provides free period products and menstrual health resources to those who need them most. The organization has distributed more than 18,600 products and directly served more than 930 individuals through partnerships with shelters, youth programs, and schools.One of the nonprofit’s signature initiatives is its “Period Pods,” small outdoor cabinets, similar to Little Free Libraries, stocked with free pads and tampons in vulnerable neighborhoods.”All proceeds from Dining for Dignity go directly toward expanding access to period products and growing our community partnerships,” Crawford said.Kempt said this year’s event builds on last year’s success when the group received a proclamation from the Louisville Mayor’s Office recognizing National Period Day.Community members are invited to join the celebration and help For Lady’s Sake continue its mission.This year’s celebration will be hosted by WLKY News Anchor Alexis Mathews with a keynote by former Kentucky State Rep.
