Pick up all those acorns off the ground and smoke them.

And don’t ask “But why would I want to smoke acorns??”

In this sub, we smoke first and ask questions later.

Leave it where it is. It is easier then taking it to a landfill in a couple weeks

  4. Actually had that same smoker for years. Had to switchout the heating element once, but it worked until it rusted out. Great little smoker. Upgraded to a larger Traeger Pellet Smoker and considering buying another standard electric smoker for the days I just want to set it and forget it.

    Nice little pickup.

There is a whole r/masterbuilt sub to help you repair and mod, if you don’t find what you’re looking for here.

We will definitely want to see the results here once you get this thing cooking.

  6. Take it home. Even if the display is shot, it’s still usable. If display works and it fires up, even better.

I used one of these for three years before I got a real smoker, three wasted years, get a real smoker, but if it works use it to rest your briskets, that’s what I use mine for now.

Do a very thorough bug and vermin check on it.

Take it home, plug it in. If it works, clean it and put it to use. The gods have sent you a message

Put that shit in the car and get out of there.

Even if it doesnt work you could turn that into a cold smoker pretty easy.

If it’s free there’s probably something wrong with it.

And even new it’s not a good smoker.

    I wouldn’t take it.

Electric smokers are an excellent way to get started!! Would highly recommend starting off with some bone in chicken thighs (short smoke, easy win) or a pork butt (much longer time but extremely forgiving and fairly cheap). Meathead Goldwyn and Aaron Franklin are two excellent resources to begin with. Welcome to the party!!!

Clean it thoroughly and see if it fires up

I got a MasterBuilt charcoal vertical. Does good work. What’s the fuel source?

  17. PonchoCavatelli

I had that unit and gave it away. Its a royal SOB to clean.

Take it. Then get a real smoker and use that as a brisket holder.

Here we just get ratty lawn chairs and mattresses! That’s an amazing find!

One of the best smokers out there. Definitely enjoy mine compared to my BGE and Wolf.
