My plant produced a lot of jalapeños, but they are only a few inches long while starting to turn red.

I think Mine did that when they needed more fertilizer

Maybe you just have a massive thumb?

Any chance it’s been in a small pot for all or part of its life? I have two separate fish pepper plants this year, and one of them has small peppers but otherwise looks normal. The plant with normal peppers I transplanted into its final home early on, but I wasn’t going to keep the other one and it got hella root bound in its starter pot before I finally decided to keep it and transplant to a bigger pot. It grew fairy well and looks healthy but all of its peppers are miniatures!

I have several plants in a row. All treated the same. One is throwing peppers just like that while the other plants are giving normal.sized ones. Sometimes its just like that. All the best!

For container plants, they can only develop so many roots, which limits the nutrient intake. With a bunch of peppers, those nutrients get stretched thin.
I had massive scotch bonnets on one plant in May, but by June they were all the size of a dime because the plant set too much fruit.
If you want bigger pods, then pick a few flowers when the plant is blooming. Or grow in a bigger pot so the plant can take up more nutrients

It’s the variety. I’ve been growing “early jalapeños” for the last two years, and they’re tiny. Look for different varieties that suggest bigger pods.

It could be the environment the plant is in. Have you got a picture of the whole plant ? What size pot have you got it in too ? What have you been feeding it ? It could also just be genetics and that’s the way your plant grows it’s fruit. You can still stuff them with cheese and fry them that size

I think light is the main issue.

Maybe a bigger pot? When I repotted my peppers I noticed the ones coming in after were larger than before.

Why is your thumb so dang big?
Totalidiotfuq
cuz it’s inside and in a pot
TheCertifiedIdiot0
Sometimes that just happens.
Though, sometimes it can be due to lack of nutrients, so it may need fertilizer.

Too many growing on one plant without enough fertilizer

I noticed the selections at the markets have all been so small lately. Usually they’re like huge 5-6 inch and girthy boys but now they looked like that lol
JTViper91
I’m pretty sure that’s average size 😅🤣

Is that plant inside? They need full sun.

Get jumbo jalapeños next time! They get huge, and the ones I grew were quite spicy.
