Commenting on this exceptional vintage, James Suckling noted: “VIK’s latest vintage is not only the best we have tasted so far from this winery, but also represents a bold departure from its previous focus on Cabernet Sauvignon. This new blend features Cabernet Franc (77%) as the protagonist, while Cabernet Sauvignon (23%) plays a secondary role. Senior editor Zekun Shuai recalls tasting the pure Cabernet Franc sample the year before his final blend, and it was already impressive. VIK winemaker Cristian Vallejo and Alex Vik, the vineyard’s visionary founder, were confident in the potential of the Cabernet Franc, which, thanks to the cooler, milder conditions of 2021, took on new precision, tension and restraint. The result is a fresher, more precise and structured vintage than its more opulent predecessors, with greater minerality, vibrancy, fine tannins and a linear, lingering finish.”

In addition, VIK 2021 has achieved the #6 position in James Suckling’s prestigious TOP 100 World 2024 list, being the best Chilean and South American wine in the ranking.
