I've long had an affinity for spicy food and while I enjoy the hotter entrees from various national foods (Korean, Indian, etc.), I had never really gotten serious about selecting sauces. Sriracha and randomly found chili sauces has been my thing. I had no idea about the SHU Scoville measurements, until I started watching "Hot Ones." The assortment of sauces they have on that show is so incredibly vast, and overwhelming. I don't even know where to start.

Well, I had a rather heated experience recently. Trinidad Habanero Moruga hot pepper sauce (LINK). It was the hottest sauce I'd ever tasted. I was able to brave it, but it's so hot as to foul up taste buds–can't really enjoy the food as much. Looks like it's over 1 million SHU!

Given that I could survive that, I figured it would be nice to have a range of sauces from about 50,000 to 350,000 (maybe 500,000). Marie Sharp's has a nice 5 pack of 10oz bottles, for $30 USD, which seems like a really super deal. Would that be a good place to start?

I just got myself the Marie Sharp’s 5 pack literally today. Also a newby on this even though I am Mexican growing up in northern Mexico, this subreddit gave me the guts to dive in to this and start building up my tolerance.
    I’ll be reporting

Marie Sharp’s sauces are delicious. None of them are anywhere near even 50K SHU, but you should get them because they taste great.

Smokin’ Marie was my late wife’s favourite sauce ever!
