Went to Noble Rot Mayfair Friday to celebrate a new job and it is now in my top
5 London restaurants.

Sweetbreads and creamed onions- 9/10. Beautiful texture, major hit of umami. Slightly under seasoned for my palette, a little extra salt elevated it.

Tagliatelle and ceps- (vegetarian) girlfriend’s dish. Didn’t try this but she loved it.

Rabbit leg with smoked sausage in a creamy mustard sauce- 10/10. This was really incredible. Subtle smokiness from the sausage, abundant tender flavoursome meat from the rabbit. Paired beautifully with the wine we ordered.

Hen of the woods mushrooms with Parmesan polenta. Not the best pic and didn’t try it though she loved it.

Profiteroles- 8/10

For wine asked my ex-sommelier friend to look at the list and recommend some, we had:

A glass of rudolf stein Riesling
A bottle of Pierre Busso Barbera D’Alba (paired beautifully with my rabbit)
A dessert wine I can’t remember as I was pissed, whoops.

Total bill about £270 which I was happy to part with for the quality of the food and service.

I don’t often seen Noble Rot recommended on this sub when people ask about London dining; I’ve been to all three now and the Mayfair one is really special.

Sounds absolutely lovely but that playing is diabolical aha

The pix look great. I have to say, I really hate the name of the place. I am sure I am missing an historical connection here.

Their coravin list is an absolute delight (but don’t discount the normal list– they get wonderfully weird with it). Just the other night I had some 35 year old vin jaune there

That second plate. I’ve done better plating myself at home – just dump the pan onto the plate. Wtf?

Never disappoints. My absolute favorite spot when I’m solo dining in London.

Do all the locations serve food? I went years ago and thought it was
    Only wine and small bites.

Genuine question: Why wouldn’t you just ask for recommendations from the somm that works there?

I had an amazing lunch at the one in Soho a few years back and still think about it.

Love Noble Rot , especially the original on Lambs Conduit street. Cracking set lunch too.
