Harvest now or wait?

Hi I’m fairly new to gardening and have been growing thai chili peppers but I’m not sure when is the best time to harvest them. Would them going from green to black be a good indicator to harvest? Also is the black color okay or would they turn red if I wait longer? Any other advice you have is welcome also thank you.
