TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona (CFB) is seeking public support as the federal government shutdown continues to affect local families.
“We’re starting to see an increase in requests for help,” said CEO Natalie Jayroe. “We are committed to supporting everyone we can impacted by the shutdown, but we’ll need the community’s help to ensure no one goes hungry. And I’ll be blunt – we need funds and food.”
CFB is urging donations of money and non-perishable food items. Each dollar donated helps provide three meals to those in need. High-demand items include canned vegetables, pasta, peanut butter, and cereal.
“Our community has a history of stepping up in difficult times,” Jayroe said. “And with the help of our supporters and friends, I believe we will meet this challenge once again.”
Donations can be made online at the Community Food Bank’s website. Those affected by the shutdown are encouraged to visit CFB’s resource centers or partner agencies for assistance.
