Was gifted some peppers from a coworker. I’m new to this! Where do I start?

They are already decently grown, but look a but look like the need some love. I just watered them because they are nice and dry. One is Bonda Mahala, one is 7 Nebru yellow. How do I know when they are ripe, and what fun stuff can I make with these?
