Little Debbie is giving fans plenty to cheer about this holiday season.
The nostalgic snack-cake brand is celebrating 40 years of their iconic Christmas Tree Cakes, which feature signature yellow cake, creme filling, and red and green sprinkles.
But this season, the brand is celebrating even more by bringing back the beloved Chocolate Christmas Tree Cakes, featuring rich chocolate cake layers and chocolate creme filling.
That’s right—two flavors of Christmas Tree Cakes are hitting shelves this year to celebrate.

“For 40 years, the Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cake has been more than just a snack—it’s part of the holiday experience,” Kenny Hammontree, Little Debbie Brand manager, said in a release shared with Southern Living. “We’re honored that this treat continues to bring smiles to families year after year.”
Chatter about the return of the nostalgic Christmas treat began a few weeks ago on social media, and longtime fans were quick to celebrate the return of the chocolate flavor.
“The chocolate ones are game changers!!!!!” one user wrote.
Another chimed in, “Yess! The chocolate cakes are coming back!!!”
While the return of Chocolate Christmas Tree Cakes is certainly exciting, Little Debbie’s 40th anniversary celebrations don’t stop there.
“Little Debbie is unveiling updated packaging featuring a 40th Anniversary Celebration Badge along with a new Santa design and back panel graphics showcasing Christmas Tree Cake cartons through the decades,” the release stated, adding that the brand will also be hosting a ’40 Days of Christmas’ giveaway where fans can win their favorite flavor of Christmas Tree Cake.
