I've seen a number of older posts about gas flow issues on older models, but was hoping someone could give me guidance on a newer model in case there was something different to try. The flames are very low on my year old Q3200, and its been nearly impossible to get a good sear on a steak without overcooking it. So far, I've reset the regular and scrubbed the burner holes. I've heard that I can rule out regulator malfunction by testing with a 1lb tank. But if the flames are still low with a 1lb tank, what else can I try?

  1. Obstructions inside the burner tubes? Little spiders sometimes like to clog those up with webs.

If it isn’t that, you might need to replace the regulator.

clean the venturi / burner tube, also could be propane tank lock-out

To clear an LP tank lockout,

    * turn off all propane appliances, then close the tank’s service valve.
    * Wait a few seconds for the system to reset, then slowly open the service valve again.
    * If the lockout persists, you may need to disconnect the regulator for 30 seconds, or
    * for some regulators with a pressure relief screw, loosen the screw slightly to vent pressure before closing it.
