Please help me settle a debate. Is ordering a pizza "well done" a crime? And is a pizza like this, which is definitely not brick-oven fired, another egregious offense against pizza?

When pizza places are busy if you don’t ask for it well done you get an almost done pizza. I don’t mind risking a slightly overcooked pizza, because slightly underdone pizza is the crime.

Some places you literally have to order it well done now just so that you get it properly cooked, with the way they’re pumping them out for Uber Eats and DoorDash orders.

Well done is the only way, and the reason I prefer takeout or delivery (as opposed to dining in the restaurant) when I want pizza. I’ll throw on some extra cheese and stick in the oven until the new cheese is a deep brown.
However, there is a real crime here…..American cheese on pizza!
I’m not a cheese snob. There is a time and place for American cheese, but that place is NOT on top of a pizza.
The blackening is weird, but that’s a characteristic of American cheese, a perfect well done pizza with the correct cheeses will hit a nice shade of brown without blackening.

Some places i know make good pizza but in a rush give you garbage. The only way around that is to ask for a well done pizza. Especially with detroit pies.

The reason for ordering a well done pizza should be if you know the pizza place usually rushes and undercooks it. I don’t want to see the cheese shreds, it should be melted. I hate when the dough is gooey as well. Really rather an overdone pizza. Sucks that it messes up the sauce though – dry pizza.
Anyway. Pizza crimes are a silly concept.
