  1. This is why I believe people tend to lose more weight when they cut out a majority of processed foods from their diet and eat more whole foods/cook more. I mean besides satiety purposes, the calorie counts can be way off

I’m not surprised, no one’s properly regulating these companies

It’s sadly still the best guess we have. Even with unprocessed foods, you can only be so exact. Like 200 grams of ribeye steak night be between 600 and 800 call, depending on marbling etc. Like, every cow is different.

Yup so some days you will eat 960 cals and sometimes you will eat 1440 so you average out at 1200 over a period of weeks.

Besides people with eating disorders I don’t know why anyone would care?

Most things in the world are just not quantifiable to the degree people want them to be. Requiring much more precision than that would be a borderline impossible ask.

And they are going to be 20% less than what they are, every time.

This should be a surprise to nobody. Also at the end of the day it shouldn’t matter that much, the calories you’re burning throughout the day also have margin or error.

Even exercise calories are never accurate. I eat back the ones my fitness pal says which always come to 100 calories daily but my health app says 300-400 calories

  9. this is why I always add hundreds of extra calories in my calculations

I don’t think it’s super healthy to be worrying about this- we always knew calorie counts were an estimate. All we can do is our best.

it’s really not that serious😭 people still make great progress tracking their macros or just being more mindful about how they eat, i genuinely don’t get why people get hung up on the labels
