This Anaheim is approaching 8 inches tall and has just developed its first flower. Should I remove it in order for it to use its energy to help grow the plant or just leave it be?

Your choice, but i never remove flowers. I give them lots of light and fertilizer so they grow their best.

It needs a much bigger pot

You can, but don’t have to. Give it a bigger pot, good soil and fertilizer and it will grow just as nice 🥰

There’s about 10% of people on this sub who will call you an idiot for picking the flower. There’s another 10% who will call you an idiot if you don’t top the plant. Then there’s the reasonable people, who either know it doesn’t matter or just don’t know enough to care. That’s the remaining 80%, and we’re happy here.

You can, but I never tend to. I experimented around with mine to see if it made a difference, I didn’t notice a big one.
My biggest recommendation would be keep this year simple till you get the hang of it, then next year maybe experiment with a plant to see what works and what doesn’t ( just be prepared if it doesn’t lol) it’s a learning process
