Gonna crack this thing open later, but I'm curious what people who have tried it think. Fetches a good price, but it's also pretty big

It’s not “spicy” but they have that “horseradish/wasabi” feel it in your nose kinda kick. Excellent snacking food imho.
IrinaBelle
They’re tasty but not spicy

They make you shit after four cans

Nose burn. Love these on salads.
Micu451
When they’re good.
Those things are hit or miss. They’re probably better when they’re fresh.
IDK how experienced you are with horseradish but it’s a different heat than capsaicin. The compounds are very volatile and tend to burn your nose a lot more than your mouth. The burn is also quite short. Also, the longer they sit around, the more they outgas and get less hot.
When you get good ones, though, they are really good.

If you eat a mouthfull it will clear your sinuses, but there is no real mouth burn.

No, not even in terms of wasabi. They’re tasty though.

Love Wasabi peas
BlackMoth27
not that “hot”

These have no capsaicin, which is what gives chilis their heat.
Horseradish and its relatives, from which this product derives its spiciness, has a different chemical, called something I can’t remember. You can feel the difference between the two when you eat them— the horseradish has a sinus component, whereas the capsaicin is more active in the oral cavity.
I like ‘em both.

My grandpa loves these, he loves horseradish.
Greedyfox7
Not really. They’re not bad, however I have to get a small container when I get them because I have to be in the mood to eat these and no one else I know likes them except for a guy I went to high school with.
PreperationOuch
That’s not “spicy/piquancy” that’s “pungency”

not even close
that said i like wasabi peas as a snack, every time you eat some it’s a little game of “is it a dude or am I going to tingle”

Funny thing, my wife can’t handle too much spice, a decent jalapeno knocks her on her ass. She loves these and they play out like shishito peppers, where one in like 20 are actually spicy.
Having said that, no… Not really hot when you get a hot one. It’s horseradish, not capsaicin.
Cubby_1985
Not in a “spicy” way. In a very faint nasal spice way. I prefer so much horseradish on my prime rib that it makes me flush and my scalp tingles.
Veneboy
More than hot, I think they are nasally invasive, I don’t know if I explain myself lol

Great for clearing a blocked nose 👍

HAPI was the brand that introduced me to wasabi peas, still a favorite.
MiteyF
They’re delicious, but no. Very very little “hotness”
If they were 3x hotter, they’d be perfect

I love wasabi peas, but I’m not fond of this brand – they are just kinda bland.
