Another combined all the key elements of a Christmas dinner

While Christmas may still seem far away for most of us, many supermarkets are already getting into the spirit of the big day by bringing a range of festive snacks and treats to shop shelves.
With preparations appearing to already be in full swing, one major supermarket has ticked off a particularly prominent date in the supermarket Christmas calendar by launching their new range of festive sandwiches.
Tesco dropped its selection of 2025 Christmas sandwiches in stores this week, bringing us a range of festive flavours to enjoy on our lunch break. The selection includes returning favourites such as the Turkey & Trimmings Sandwich and the Currywurst Sausage Sub as well a range of new festive options such as the Plant Chef Festive Feast Wrap.
After spotting the new Christmas sandwiches I was excited to get my hands on them for myself. So, despite it only being October, I headed down to my local Tesco to get my first taste of Christmas for 2025.

This is not an exhaustive list of all of Tesco’s Christmas sandwiches, which includes vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. However, I picked up as many sandwiches as I could from the supermarket’s core range in order to put them to the test.
The supermarket’s core Christmas sandwiches can be bought as part of the supermarket’s standard meal deal, but there are also a number of Tesco Finest Christmas sandwiches on offer, which can be bought as part of the supermarket’s premium meal deal.
I have to admit some of Tesco’s sandwiches did feel more Christmassy than others. Some really took me by surprise, while others I would happily never pick up again. Either way here is a ranking of six of Tesco’s 2025 festive sandwiches.
Pigs In Blankets Sandwich
Tesco’s Pigs In Blankets Sandwich was the first on my list to try, but unfortunately, I found it was nothing to write home about. For me pigs in blankets are a must for any Christmas dinner, however I felt Tesco’s Pigs In Blankets sandwich slightly missed the mark in replicating this iconic festive side dish.

The sandwich features slices of bacon and sausage pieces with caramelised onion chutney and seasoned mayo, all on malted bread. I enjoyed the sausages, which seemed to be quite flavourful; however, for me, the bacon was slightly thin and quite bland. I found a lot of the taste of the sandwich came from the onion chutney which was nice and sweet, but paired with the mayo I felt there was possibly too much going on in the sandwich, making it a bit too saucy for my liking.
I was upset to find that it was hard to get a bite of the sandwich with both sausage and bacon in order to replicate the iconic pigs in blankets taste. As a result the sandwich really did not live up to its name and for me ruined the whole idea of pigs in blankets.
The sandwich was still nice but I found it to be quite disappointing and it wouldn’t necessarily be one I would pick up again in a hurry.

Turkey & Trimmings Sandwich
Next on my list was the Turkey & Trimmings Sandwich which seemed to have some of the most important elements of the classic festive roast dinner with turkey slices, stuffing and cranberry sauce. Compared with the Pigs In Blankets Sandwich, which I had tried hours before, this sandwich felt a much closer imitation of a Christmas dinner, which I think was down to all of the sandwich’s elements blending well together.
I found the turkey to be surprisingly juicy, considering it was inside a wrapped sandwich, and the stuffing and cranberry complemented it very well. This sandwich would be on that I’d definitely turn to again as it felt a trustworthy lunch option.

Brie & Cranberry Sandwich
Generally, I am a big fan of a classic cheese sandwich, and I am especially fond of brie, but on first look at Tesco’s Brie & Cranberry Sandwich, I felt slightly disappointed as it did appear a little lacklustre. The sandwich is arguably quite simplistic as it contains just brie, spinach and a coating of cranberry sauce. However, sometimes simplicity is best, and I was very willing to be convinced by this sandwich.
On the first bite, I was thrilled to find the brie almost melted in the mouth as it was incredibly soft and creamy. But while I was impressed by the cheese filling I felt that the sandwich’s other fillings did let it down slightly. The sandwich appeared to only have a light coating of cranberry sauce, with this also being quite unevenly distributed across the bread, meaning at points there was little extra taste than the brie. I felt that the spinach was a nice addition but again wasn’t super flavourful and so it sometimes felt as though you were simply biting into a cream cheese sandwich.

Although brie and cranberry seem to have become synonymous with Christmas in recent years, I didn’t feel that Tesco’s sandwich necessarily screamed Christmas, and tasted more like an average cream cheese sandwich. It was nice sandwich regardless, but I would definitely recommend being a big cheese fan for this one.

Currywurst Sausage Sub
Next to try on the list was the Currywurst Sausage Sub which is inspired by the traditional German Christmas market dish with sausages, balsamic onions and curry ketchup. Currywurst isn’t usually a go-to for me at Christmas so I was really excited to see what it would be like within the sub sandwich.
The curry sauce definitely packs a slight kick, possibly making it a great go-to sandwich for the colder days when you need to feel warmer. With the curry ketchup, sausages and balsamic onions, I found the Currywurst Sausage Sub to be very flavourful and it was very easy to eat.

Currywurst Sausage Sub definitely gave a colder days vibe and I can imagine it also being pretty tasty if toasted. With the curry ketchup and sausages making the sub very flavourful I can definitely see myself popping back to Tesco for this one.

Festive Chicken & Trimmings Sub
I have to admit on first look I was not convinced by the Festive Chicken & Trimmings Sub which did look quite bland with a somewhat sloppy filling seeping out from the bread. But on first taste I was surprised to find it was more impressive than I had expected.
The sub contains chicken pieces with stuffing and a bacon and cranberry sauce which, like the Turkey & Trimmings Sandwich, did seem a very festive collection of fillings. The chicken pieces were pretty moist and definitely paired well with the stuffing to give a particularly festive flavour which you can imagine coming straight off your Christmas dinner plate.

The cranberry sauce was also a great addition but I did find it was not spread evenly across the sub, making some bites slightly bland. I was also left a bit unsure on the bacon sauce as I personally could not taste any bacon in the sandwich. However this sandwich definitely delivers on giving a festive vibe and could be the perfect lunch option to put you in the Christmas spirit before the big day. This was an enjoyable sandwich for me, but found it to be slightly lacking on the cranberry sauce.

Plant Chef Festive Feast Wrap
Admittedly, this last one isn’t a sandwich, but as Tesco’s new vegan festive option, I thought I had to give the Plant Chef Festive Feast Wrap a go. I was a bit unsure of what to expect from this new Christmas option, but apparently, a Festive Feast Wrap includes carrots and parsnips, sage & onion stuffing, sweet cranberries, vegan gravy, mayo and vegan bacon.
From this list of ingredients, you can imagine that the Festive Wrap is filled to the brim, but I was thrilled to find that all these fillings blended well together. With veg, cranberries, vegan gravy, stuffing and vegan bacon all tied together, it almost felt as though you were getting a full Christmas dinner enclosed within a wrap.

To me this wrap screamed Christmas with it having all the essential elements of the iconic dinner contained in a handy wrap to eat on the go.
