This box of salmon was a gift to me. It says it is fully cooked and vacuum-packed, and the best-used-by date is in 2028. I keep forgetting about it, as I normally don't keep fish in ambient temperatures, but I'd like to try it soon.
Does anyone have experience with this type of product and/or suggestions?

It’s great on a bagel or a cracker with cream cheese. That’s probably the most common way to serve it. You were lucky to get it!
Its pretty good on crackers with a smear of cream cheese and everything bagel seasoning.
You put it in your mouth!
Wait… do you just have it sitting in a cupboard or something?
While resilient, thats not sitting at room temp until 2028. Still needs freezing/refrigeration.
Also, cracker and/or cheese, or just by itself. You can also toss it in a salad.
Get really good bagels and cream cheese and make a sandwich with it. Capers onions might make it even more amazing. It’s called lox and is extremely expensive.

Oooh! I’m from Seattle and get smoked salmon as gifts a lot. It’s so freaking good. Just refrigerate it after you open it. It never lasts very long in our house.
If you like cooking, using it at the meat in eggs Benedict is phenomenal.
Eat it
Straight out the plastic into your mouth lol. My favorite way to eat this stuff.
I like to add smoked salmon to my deviled eggs. Not all of them, but some, sometimes with capers, dill and capers, etc, a little variety.
It makes great smoked salmon dip, too. Or on eggs Benedict. It’s not squishy like lox, it’s drier and denser.
You could add it to seafood chowder, too. It’s fairly salty, so season cautiously until it’s nearly done/the flavors have time to marry.
I really like using this kind of salmon to make salmon spread, which I then have on crackers or bread. I break up the fish and mix it with cream cheese, capers, parsely, maybe some diced green olives, black pepper, and perhaps a bit of mayonnaise if the end result is too stiff.
Eating it plain is great but the flavor is strong, making this a good way to stretch it.
