First post here but long time snooper! Huge fan of boneless and skinless sardines and I usually eat them straight from the can, but I decided to give skin-on and bone-in a go (I already love fish skin so I’m already half way there lol). My OCD and I are very relieved that I did not notice the bones at all!!! It doesn’t look great, but I grilled up some garlic in vegetable oil, followed by the sardines, then topped with some lime juice and parsley!! Maybe doesn’t sound great either but I’m really enjoying branching out with my sardines!! 🥹

Can’t edit but I left out the very last word of my post… supposed to say “branching out” 😭

I was proud when i first did it too lol

  3. Nice! Now you can add calcium to the already massive list of sardine nutrients

Yum! For me it was intimidating too until I bought a can with bones by accident and didnt even notice until I was almost done with them lol it opens up a whole new world since there is so much more variety.

  5. Sometimes you notice, sometimes you don’t lol.

  6. Yeah, I used to take the bones out- But at some point one realizes it’s not bad at all. I think it was just a mental block for me and I gave up after it took too much time away from enjoying dines!

Yeah so you really only notice the bones if the spines are a little crunchy. The larger the first the more likely this is to be the case although processing, how much it’s cooked etc. matters as well. if you stick to the smaller fish you’ll probably never know or maybe get like one little crunch per tin. Some people like it. I’m mostly neutral on the subject but I’ve had tins that were a bit much and I took a moment and got rid of a couple of them so it wasn’t every fish. Luckily those tins only have 3-4 fish in them so it kind of works out.

I don’t mind the bones, but the intestine grosses me out so I still prefer buying fillets…
