This is why I always carry a can of chickpeas in my pocket. A simple can of chickpeas is more powerful than you think. Because with a can of chickpeas, you’re always about 10 minutes away from a pretty good meal. Simply give them a rinse in cold water and fry in a good amount of olive oil for about 5 6 minutes until something very special happens to them. You’ll notice them changing color, becoming more golden. The outside now has a satisfying crisp and the inside is soft. Now, on the side, you’re going to get a bunch of your favorite herbs. I use parsley, sage, and cilantro. Toss in a clove of garlic, too. Get all of that nicely chopped up. It doesn’t have to be perfect. And throw that whole thing on your chickpeas with a bunch of salt, lemon zest, lemon juice. Turn off the heat. And finish with a bit more olive oil just to bring everything together. This is super flavorful and aromatic, so I like to serve it on top of a bowl of cold, creamy yogurt. And I know it doesn’t look like much. Sometimes this is all you need.

  1. I don't know how can of chickpeas work but in india we soak chickpeas for few hours or overnight before cooking

  2. I'd love to do this with beans bc I can't stand chickpeas. Thank you for the recipe

  3. Is it weird that I absolutely LOVE hummus, but I hate eating actual whole chickpeas? I love eating apples, but I hate apple juice. Am I even human? Oh…and the best and most delicious smell in the entire WORLD to me, is the smell of Cooked white rice. Right after you remove the lid before you fluff it and that beautiful aromatic cloud of steam boils up into the air. Seriously, it’s a whole “thing” for me. 😊

  4. You stole the phrase saying "ten minutes away from a pretty good meal" its from a video from 5 years ago
