These homemade mozzarella sticks are better than anything in the freezer aisle. They’re crispier, cheesier, and way more flavorful… and yes, they’re totally worth the prep. We’re using real mozzarella, not string cheese, and double dipping that coating for an extra thick, golden crust.

I told y’all there’s food at home. These homemade mozzarella sticks are better than anything in the freezer aisle. They’re crispier, cheesier, and way more flavorful. I like using Italian breadrumbs because they’re already seasoned. Add shredded parmesan, garlic powder, and mix that up. Start breading each mozzarella stick. Double coating is key for a super thick crust. In my opinion, cutting up a block of mozzarella cheese makes the best sticks, but you can also use string cheese. Put them in the freezer for at least 40 minutes so the sticks hold shape when they’re frying and not too much cheese oozes out. Fry until they’re nice and golden brown like me. Let them cool for a little bit.
