Reality vs expectation. They taste great and my daughter and I laughed the entire time so an overall success. I just can’t stop laughing when I look at them. 🎃👻

Honestly, your version is better in every way!

Hahaha I still haven’t mastered melting chocolates! Still really cute tho, and I’m sure a great memory with your daughter ♥️ also looks like little spider peanut butter blossoms peeking out of the corner, also super cute with the googly eyes lol. Just out of curiosity how did you do the white chocolate wafers? Microwave melts or double boiler? I know sometimes you may need to add a little vegetable oil into the mix to get it really smooth and give it a nice shine.

  3. They’re horrific… perfect for Halloween!!

It looks like you got the chocolate coverage pretty good. The decorating will come with practice.

My bakes look like a dog’s dinner, but taste like the cat’s pajamas.

“But but, the first bite is with the eyes..!”
    “Yeah? Have you seen jambalaya?”

Did you take the sticks out when the chocolate set? Try taking them out earlier and then cover the hole with the melted chocolate using the stick.

They look delicious and I got a kick out of this lol

They look so cute! Great ideas you have there for Halloween baking! Those spiders look neat too.

  6. BeckyStar1994

I think yours are still good and cute 👻

  7. Klutzy_Arm_7930

This is what it looks like 10 years after I have mastered white chocolate wafers 😏

  8. CuckShucker

I’m very inexperienced and want to try this, but I have a feeling mine are going to be absolute monstrosities

  9. Happy_Liaison_468

Working with chocolate is messy and so not consistent among brands and types of chocolate. These are absolutely perfect and sounds like you got some serious bonding time with your daughter.

i remember my first time working with candy melts. tell me: were these either quick or easy? lol

I personally have butchered oreo truffles multiple times. No one ever cares because they are so dang delicious. Your ghosts will be a hit!

  12. mysaddle

Well yours are certainly more haunted than the OGs!

  13. shandalf_thegrey

Pro tip, before you melt your wafers drizzle a little bit of olive oil over them. You’ll get smoother chocolate and it will set faster

  14. InternationalRow1653

I’ve made them many times and can never get pretty ones. I also don’t like a thick shell on mine so half the time they aren’t even fully covered these look great imo

  15. horsestotame

I think these have a lot of charm!!

Also, tag yourself. I’m the one in the bottom right with the cute little derpy smile. 🙂

Thin out your chocolate with a little bit of coconut oil and just drop them in the bowl to fully coat them and fish them out with a fork and let them dry on a cooling rack. The coating is much more even like that. Also, I love your spider cookies I see peeking out in the corner. I think your ghosts have more whimsy like that, they’re cute

  17. ednamode_alamode

Bottom right hand corner guy is my favorite. He’s cute!

  18. CamiloArturo

Well it looks much more scary indeed

  19. Classic-Light-1467

This is phenomenal and sounds so fun! I’d love to do this with my daughter!

There is no perfection in making cake balls! I have been making them for years and I never can get the chocolate smooth around the ball. I tried in the beginning to make cake pops. That was an epic fail. Wouldn’t stay on the stick.
Anyway, no one cares what they look like! But they love to eat them!

  21. Elegant-Expert7575

Add more fat to make the chocolate thinner if you need. Yours do look more horror like instead of kiddie cute. 🙂

  22. GoodWorks38

When it comes to chocolate taste counts more than looks. I’d eat a few right now!!!!!

  23. ewedirtyh00r

People need to stop falling for ai recipe ads

  24. flappy_twat

Mine always turn out looking like this, still tasty af

  25. shrimpsauce91

No, they’re not perfect. You need to practice more. Make more. And then share them with me.

They look delicious honestly! And you and your daughter had a good laugh while enjoying them; that’s the best part of baking, isn’t it? Connection!!

  26. mmeeplechase

That’s the magic of Halloween treats—it’s totally fine if they look a little wild + unhinged 😅

  27. AxelCanin

Yours look cute and home-made. Reminds me of an asylum with ghosts expressing all kinds of emotions

The other looks like AI but also NSFW 😂

  28. anonymous5481

Sounds like they came out just right! I would be curious as to what caused the coating to be too thin. I’ve never worked with vanilla coating either but have wanted to try it. Did you double dip them? Or was the coating too warm?

  29. aSituationTypeDeal

People are oddly nice on this sub. Everyone saying they look great is lying to you lol

But you had fun and posted them yourself so that’s cool

  30. ThatWasIntentional

Never done faces on Oreo balls before, but when we coat them, we aim to use just barely melted chocolate on chilled, pre-rolled balls, and that usually gets a nice thick coating of chocolate

The face decorations look like they were added after another round of chilling if that helps

  31. authorinthesunset

Obvious first time? Not to me. Based on my skills this is clearly about the thousandth time and is about as dialed in as I could hope for.

P.s. looks delicious would 100 devour them

  32. Beneficial-Math-2300

Honestly, I love your work better! They’re so realistic

  33. Drink-my-koolaid

    Your spider cookies look fantastic!

  34. Cool-Elderberry5406

They look great and I bet they taste amazing! 🤩

  35. Diggy_Soze

Not at all. I’m 100 attempts in and mine look just like that.
