Stumbled across this sub randomly a few months ago and fell in love with the idea of making homemade salsas! This was my first attempt at a very mild version and used the following ingredients:

2x Red Tomato
2x Red Pepper
4x Red Mini Sweet Pepper
3x Yellow Mini Sweet Pepper
1x Red Onion
2x Lime
1x Small bushel cilantro
1tsp salt

Oven roasted for 25 minutes and then into my food processor!

How’s this looking? What can I do next time to make it better? Thanks for looking!

Bell peppers have always tasted bland to me on their own, so I can’t imagine them standing out in a salsa. I always joke when I get a batch of non spicy Jalapeños that they taste like bell peppers. I think the acid and oils of spicy pepper cuts through some of the other flavors in a salsa and you can taste the combo better. But it’s your call! Maybe you should try making a pico de gallo with sweet peppers next.

chicken bullion!! that’s the only thing that immediately comes to mind for making it better “secret ingredient” style

Toast some pumpkin (pepitas) seeds add them to the blender for smokiness and thickener honest on a future batch.

Adding garlic will help. Other than that, Knorr chicken bouillon and spicier peppers (which has already been discussed in the comments)

    Otherwise, a good first batch.

Definitely use some jalapeño, Serrano, habanero or maybe some chile de Arbol for a nice kick. I like the dry chile de arbol but you can also buy it fresh. Also add some garlic.

Following up after dinner! Definitely tasted better after being refrigerated cold for several hours. Since there was a decent amount I split the salsa in half and put a few dashes of ghost pepper sauce in one. Woke the flavor up significantly but know this isn’t best practice. Until next time!

Also, salsa was wife approved. Huge Sunday win! 😎
