Stepping into Sophia feels less like entering a hotel restaurant and more like being welcomed into a grand, yet warm, Italian home.

The atmosphere perfectly captures the timeless art of Italian hospitality — a place where culture, craftsmanship, and pure enjoyment converge. As General Manager Nick Heath shared, they set out to create a new “social beacon,” and they’ve absolutely succeeded. The space feels both elegant and inviting.

Two semi-private seats exude Italian charm — perfect for couples. You don’t need to make any special requests to book them; call the restaurant to check availability, as they’re offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
The culinary magic is driven by Chef de Cuisine Angelo Sergio, who brings the soul of his native Puglia, Italy, to the menu. What I loved most is that the dishes aren’t limited to one region; Chef Sergio genuinely celebrates the hallmarks of authentic Italian cuisine from 11 different Italian regions. He achieves this by selecting honest ingredients and the absolute finest produce, resulting in recipes that feel deeply traditional yet utterly refined.
Carpaccio di Gamberi
The menu is thoughtfully arranged for sharing, which makes the whole experience wonderfully communal. For starters, the antipasti are spectacular. The smoky char on the Polpo Grigliato—tender grilled octopus resting on a bed of creamy fava beans with zesty lemon, mint, and sweet Tropea onions—was a perfect start. But the real star for me was the Carpaccio di Gamberi. The delicate, buttery slivers of Mazara red prawn, combined with a touch of raspberry and lemon gel, were a revelation of sweet and salty flavours. It’s a dish I’d go back for alone!
Tagliatelle Atavi e Porcini
When it comes to pasta, Sophia brings innovation to tradition. You absolutely have to try the Tagliatelle Atavi e Porcini. The Hickory-smoked tagliatelle, exclusively imported from Italy, lends a unique, deep flavor that pairs beautifully with the rich porcini and veal jus. And for those who appreciate true dedication to craft, the Pappardelle al Ragù () is fantastic; the way they hand-cut the Wagyu beef into tender shreds before simmering it into an intensely flavorful ragu that clings to every ribbon of pasta is pure excellence.
Cannoncini alla Crema Trolley
The commitment to genuine hospitality shines brightest during dessert. While the classic Tiramisu and limoncello-soaked Baba Napoletano are excellent, we highly recommend the Cannoncini alla Crema or Salame di Cioccolato. These two are traditional Italian favourites rarely seen in Singapore, prepared the old-fashioned way with impressive attention to detail. They’re rich yet never cloying — desserts that almost everyone will love. Watching the team prepare and serve them at the table adds a touch of culinary theatre that perfectly rounds off the evening.
To accompany the meal, the beverage menu is exceptional. The cocktail list features classics, but their signature Malfy Gin creations are exceptionally bright. I loved the Amalfi Breeze, which captures the brightness of Mediterranean citrus. The wine list is a journey in itself, spotlighting 70 artisanal labels across Italy, from the subtle Franciacorta of Lombardy to the robust Brunello of Tuscany. They even offer nine organic selections, showing great respect for tradition and nature. And you can’t end a true Italian meal without a proper digestif—the Grappa, Limoncello, and Sambuca offer a perfect, traditional close.

If dinner isn’t an option, clear your Sunday schedule. The Sunday Brunch at Sophia sounds like the ultimate celebration! They transform the dining room with music from a live band and welcome you with Mimosas and Aperol Spritzes. I’m already planning my return for the mozzarella bar, the à la minute pasta preparation, and the charming gelato cart that scoots around the dining room. For the ultimate treat, the S$198++ option, which includes bottomless R de Ruinart champagne and house wines, makes it a seriously indulgent weekend splurge.
Sophia has instantly become my new favorite. Chef Sergio and the team have created something truly special here, honouring Italy’s heritage while offering a fresh, modern experience.
