Mediterranean restaurant Olive & Lamb just added a second location in northeast Minneapolis.
Olive & Lamb recently took over the former Ramen Kazama space at 1510 Como Ave. SE near the University of Minnesota campus, which emptied this summer.
The new location is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., offering many of the same dishes as the flagship at 2424 University Ave. NE, including several gyro variations, kabobs, falafel and house-made baklava.
Along with Stanley’s Northeast Bar Room, a Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) project at Lowry and University avenues threatened Olive & Lamb’s existence, until plans changed following a community outcry.
At least one initial option for reconstructing the congested, crash-prone intersection would have paved the way for MnDOT to acquire the restaurants’ buildings through eminent domain and tear them down.

Stanley’s asked regulars in February to help put pressure on MnDOT so it could be spared from the wrecking ball. The 15-year-old neighborhood staple credited “community support” when it shared in August that it won’t be forced to close as a result of the project after all.
MnDOT is now recommending that Lowry Avenue be shifted to the south, a plan that it says “reduces impacts to other adjacent properties.”
A spokesperson for MnDOT confirmed Wednesday that Olive & Lamb won’t be displaced by the University and Lowry project but said the parking lot outside the business is expected to lose three spaces and roadway access from University Avenue.
Olive & Lamb – located across the intersection from Stanley’s – launched in 2019.
