I go way thinner on both the onions and tomato and add olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt, and cayenne. Kind of a bastardization of the Russian tomato salad I grew up having at my friend’s house, I think achukchuk or something along those lines? If you get heartburn from raw red onions, soak them in cold water after you cut them. And the salad is better after it has marinated in its own juices for at least a few hours and served with a good dark bread

I use a very similar recipe. It just doesn’t have any tomatoes or peppers and has twice the onion.

I do this with cilantro and diced up Serranos!! And a heavy serving of sumac and good quality EVOO
