Opened some cool cult wines for my 21st

2007 Tissot Arbois Vin Jaune 'En Spois' – Colour was incredibly dark, think not drinking any water throughout the day then going to the bathroom colour. Nose was almost too much pre-decant with the alcohol being very pronounced then settled into this nutty complex nose. Pallet was green apple skins, so deep and complex with one sip being enough to taste for the next 10 minutes.

2023 Gut Oggau 'Winifred Rose' – Almost that rosato colour of dark pink rather than the traditional lighter colour. Nose was that of most natural wine but a little bit more darker, think strawberry fields with fruit the plants and the earth combined. Very pleasantly effervescent on the pallet with an almost tart strawberry pallet.

2022 Egon Muller Scharzhof – The godfather of the Sar's entry level wine! Pronounced but fine nose of all things fruit basket that German riesling is known for but just CLEAN. Pallet continued with the clean theme, slight sweetness but perfect minerality and acid to balance it out.

2023 Wendouree Malbec – The Australian cult wine in my opinion. Was just everything you wanted/needed from a red wine. Right in the centre of medium body with the classic Clare Valley red fruit bramble pallet. The tannin was so well integrated that the non-red drinkers easily finished a glass with no complaints.

1982 Domaine La Chataigneraie Creme De Tete – Sweet wine from the Entre-Deux-Mers surprised everybody. Think it could have done with another 20 years! Amazingly was still full of life and zest, not the stickyness that we were expecting from those Sauternes style wines. Tasted a lot more like a Vouvray from the Loire, lean, acid, but sweetness that coats the pallet.

2025 Frog in the Pond – Perfectly sweet and balanced pallet with the candy lime element blending perfectly with the chocolate. A perfect way to end the flight.
