Birthyear bottle for a dear friend.
Brought it to Saison Cellar in San Francisco to enjoy.
Somm recommended a decant, so went with that.
Initially, all acid and vegetal notes, but woke up nicely.
Over an hour of decanting, this developed some nice complexity.
Lots of dried red and black fruit, dried cherry, dried blueberry, plum, fruit leather.
Also picked up dried herbs, leather, rosemary.
Only 12.8% ABV.
This is in beautiful shape and can definitely go on for a while.
I'm quite convined 1987 Napa is showing very well now, between recently trying 1987 Groth, 1987 Beringer Private Reserve, 1987 Spring Mountain, and now this.
92 points.
