DAPHNE, Ala. (NBC 15) — Daphne had nearly 600 runners weaving through its downtown streets this morning.

They were taking part in the 16th annual Prodisee Pantry Turkey Trot.

This is the big fundraiser for the Pantry which feeds more than 11,000 families in Baldwin County each year.

This year’s run takes on even more meaning as more families are in need with the current government shutdown.

The government shutdown wasn’t figured into our numbers this year. So we are cautiously optimistic that we will be able to provide everyone who walks through our doors with the traditional Thanksgiving feast whether we have to borrow from Christmas and figure it out we will.
