a Jewish deli that’s now 100% halal. Okay, sign me up. Want to know a secret? Sally’s got you. This is David’s Brisket House, originally owned by David, a Russian Jewish man who sold it to his close Muslim Yemen friends. And they converted it into one of the only halal pastrarami shops in New York. I grabbed a pastrami sandwich, of course, a brisket, and the corned beef, which gets slowcooked for 6 plus hours. And I’m not going to lie, this pastrami sandwich really rivals Cats’s. And I can easily say this is one of the best in the city. I also tried the brisket sandwich, which comes with a little cup of meat juice on the side that you can just dip the sandwich right into. And this added a depth of flavor I’ve truly never experienced before. To end it off, we grabbed the corn beef reuben sandwich, which gets topped with melted cheese and sauerkraut. And I think this is easily one of the best options here. I also had to grab a Palestina soda to support. If you’re looking for some good hal food, make your way out to David’s Brisket House ASAP.
