
Sue me, I love Fishwife’s smoked rainbow trout. I have been trying to find a different tinned smoked trout that I can finally say is my new favorite. I was delightfully surprised to see Porthos’ smoked trout. It’s truly delicious. Easily a 9/10. But the fishwifes’ just have more flavor, more umami and definitely saltier. The hunt for a new favorite continues…

What are your thoughts on skin vs no skin?
What about Trader Joe’s smoked trout? It’s packed in canola oil, but can be dressed up and added to anything and it’s about a quarter of the price of fishwife (my opinion is that for what it is, it is waaaay overpriced).
The Fishwife trout is outstanding, but my favorite is the José Gourmet smoked trout with dill and fennel.
