Just found this bad boy in my beans, before I threw them into my grinder thank God. But yeah, just a friendly PSA. Do a quick shake and check for rocks in your beans. This is a first for me. But it does happen.

Won’t stop upvoting these. I 3D-printed a small tray specifically to check for rocks.

  2. Just curious, was the rock found in a nearly empty bag? It would seem that a heavier and denser rock would eventually gravitate towards the bottom of the bag.

What roasters Re these coming from? Small local ones, commercial supermarket beans? Self roasted (bought green)? I’ve never noticed a rock…

Same happened to me, craziest part is that I had just bought a new grinder and this rock was almost ground together with the beans in my first use.

  5. Drive Coffee shipped me some with a rock in it, it destroyed the grinder in my Barista Express. I emailed them about it, the founder said they hadn’t bought a destoner yet. He told me he would replace my machine, asked me to send him my info for shipping, then he ghosted me. I’ve been telling everyone about my experience ever since, they began deleting my comments on all their socails. Looks like they aren’t doing so well now, good riddance.

This is also a good argument for single dosing. You are more likely to find rocks when single dosing.

I read the title as “Check your rocks for beans”

I’m confused how you all are weighing your beans if you’re not spotting rocks in them.

I read this wondering how a prostate-specific antigen test could find rocks in your beans! 🫘 I was thinking some kind of extreme processing along the lines of Civet Coffee, but the human kind, for a truly in-house blend!

Thank God it was a public service announcement. I started worrying about the back flush process and explaining the odd smell to the wife!

Meanwhile in r/rocks someone is posting a PSA to check for coffee beans in your rocks.

  11. And it’s for this very reason I bought a rock magnet

  12. I’ve found two in different bags recently. Both times I found them by accident (dropped the dosing cup, and pouring from one container to another). Makes me wonder if I’ve been that lucky or if I managed to grind one up in the past without knowing.
