Petaluma’s dining scene doesn’t get much heat, but subtle French newcomer Bijou seems primed to break through. Table Culture Provisions chef Stéphane Saint Louis, who grew up in New York and Port-au-Prince, Haiti, strikes lowkey and elegant notes at this Kentucky Street main character.

A low thrum of instrumental music rides above the handful of tables in the exposed brick-filled dining room; a pass into the kitchen is visible from a short bar and a few of the tables. Bijou’s warm, easy hospitality is cozy and comforting — the type of place where big families with kids crawling about dine beside pals meeting up for a glass of wine.

Rest easy knowing there’ll be parking within a few blocks, even on a busy-ish weeknight.
